A little Autumn magic with Bonpoint

I have been really missing outdoor photography. There is so much less daylight here now, and with the children back at school and nursery the opportunities are few to get out there and explore. In fact the last few months have just vanished. It still feels like the Summer holidays only just ended, not that Christmas is around the corner. Autumn has been kind though, a little late to arrive but filled with warm sunny days, and now finally the world is an explosion of colour as the leaves turn and fall. Many a time I have looked through the window and seen the perfect golden hour light, or woken up to a foggy morning, and yet I haven’t quite managed to get out there and capture these things.

I’ve had the perfect excuse sitting here for weeks as well – several glossy bags filled with delights from the Bonpoint FW16 range waiting to be photographed. You may remember I worked with Bonpoint earlier this year (here), attending their SS17 fashion show held at the flagship store in Paris. I really fell in love with the brand whilst in Paris that warm, sunny day. Whimsical, fun and fresh – their clothing seems to capture and preserve that childhood innocence. They have also been a fabulous brand to work for, friendly and generous, and receiving clothing for all three of us from this collection was really the cherry on top.

So with a head full of ideas, and clothing as photogenic as you could ever wish for, I have been really excited about this shoot! I held off a little as I really wanted to do it with the leaves, and then time ran away with me. The boys have been desperate to wear their new clothes, but I’m always nervous to allow them until things have been photographed! Finally whilst up in Yorkshire over the school holidays, my Mum was told of a nice spot in some woodland by her friend, so off we went armed with my camera and tripod, and dressed head to toe in the Bonpoint FW17 collection.

We found a little piece of magic in the woods that day, the sunshine streaming through the trees, the beech leaves floating down, a gentle stream and even a few red spotted toadstools. My Mum played hide and seek with the boys behind the scenes, and we dished out the little cherry flavoured Bonpoint candies that had arrived with the clothes. We even got a little lost and missed the path on the way back, scrabbling through prickly holly bushes and ditches, and laughing about what we were doing in such beautiful clothes!

That’s the beauty of the Bonpoint clothes, the quality is durable the styles are appropriate for the children to live and play in comfortably. Their personal favourites are their trainers, the soft cashmere scarves (they’ve always been massive scarf fans!) and my coat, which they are obsessed with stroking and cuddling. My personal favourites are also my coat (I adore it!!) and their jeans which fit them perfectly, and those little cashmere jumpers. I can tell you feeling those little soft bodies wrapped in the softest cashmere is one heck of a treat for a Mummy :). Cuddles all round!

Going out and taking these photos really reminded me why I love photography so much. Working with the light, thinking quickly to get in position, I can get completely lost in that moment. Best of all though is seeing the children running around in the fresh air, enjoying the sunshine and the surroundings. Enthused by this shoot I finally grasped my chance at a foggy morning and took the boys to our local park on the last day of the school holidays. It was surprisingly mild and the leaves were at their best, and I got a few more shots I love to add to this collection.

I imagine their will be many more occasions to come when we will wear our Bonpoint and head out with the camera! Now if the kids could just not grow any more… I however am lucky and my coat will fit forever 🙂

This post was kindly sponsored by Bonpoint, the boys’ outfits are from the FW17 collection which you can see here, and mine from the Yams collection here.

Absolutely stunning photos Hannah! I this time of year when the mornings are nice and misty! It feels a lot cooler already and I’m hoping there will be snow this year (more than the 5mm we got in London last year)!

    • Reply Hannah Argyle November 7, 2016 at 2:39 pm

Thanks so much Jinny! The light is incredible at the moment isn’t it, and so fleeting! watch it come and go through the window and I don’t have time to get out there! Glad I managed to catch it this time. Fingers crossed with the snow, maybe you need to travel out to the countryside to get more! xx

    Dearest Hannah,

I chanced upon on of your photos on the Explore page on Instagram and I was so captivated by your images. They are what I’ve always wanted my images to be like. I came by your blog and I just want to thank you for posting all these words on your blog — everything you write is so beautiful to read. I enjoyed just scrolling through your blog entries and reading them. It almost feels like I am feeling how you must have been at that moment, in that place, as you were taking that particular photo on your camera!

I am a DSLR newbie. My husband owns a SONY NEX5, and I borrow his from time to time but have always struggled with the Manual mode. I gave up many times and returned to the automatic mode. Reading all your technical jargons make me so want to understand all of them but yet they seem so tough! You have inspired me greatly though, and I really want to give it another go. I also want to try out Lightroom. Looking forward to finding my style of shots and creating memories for my family too.

You are amazing and I love all your shots so much, especially those of your beautiful boys. Big love and blessings to you and your family. 🙂

Hi, thank you so much for popping by, I can honestly say your comment has completely made my week! Such a kind and lovely thing to say, so thank you 🙂
I would honestly advise finding someone who can give you an hour or two tuition, I found it much easier to be shown in person by someone who can explain things clearly. The same with Lightroom, if someone can show you how to import and export and manage the basics, you can build on your knowledge from there! Youtube and photography blogs are also very helpful. Good luck, it’s such a fun journey to be on!
      Hannah xx
