We’re all busy bees these days aren’t we? Buzzing around between school drop offs, meetings, coffee dates, works dos and events. We have to have superhero type multi tasking skills. We efficiently manage our homes, our kids (and their homework, reading, not to mention social calendars), our pets and our jobs. Or of course that’s the impression we give! Haha, ok some days we might be feeling a little more “blue-arsed fly” than busy and efficient little bees, but it’s certainly a common factor of modern life. We are busy, busy, busy.
When so much is expected of us each day, I think it’s fair to expect the same level of performance and versatility from our footwear. I’ve talked about this before, but I just can’t bear uncomfortable clothes and shoes. If my feet are hurting, I literally can’t think straight and I certainly can’t think creatively! As soon as Summer draws to a close I start to ponder the whole winter boots quandary – the mission is to find the perfect pair of boots that are comfy enough to pound the city streets for hours, and are versatile enough to go with everything, day or night. So when Marks and Spencer contacted me and asked me to work with them on their range of Autumn/Winter boots it came at the perfect time, and for me their Chelsea boots offer the perfect solution!
My day almost always begins the same way – walking our dog and taking the children to school and nursery. As a self employed photographer how I spend the rest of my day can vary hugely. As my business grows, so do the variety of opportunities that come my way and I’m increasingly finding myself going into London for meetings and photography opportunities, which sometimes runs straight into evening events. I’m on my feet a lot. If I’m photographing a family outdoors I’ll be running around to get in position, and sometimes I’m on shoots which last for several hours or the whole day.
The boots I chose from the Marks and Spencer range are super comfortable, and yet I feel like I haven’t had to compromise on style. Perfect teamed with jeans and a cosy knit, or a flower print dress and tights, or for evening a blouse and skinny trousers. When I travel it’s great to be able to pack light (the camera equipment is heavy enough on its own) and just take one pair of boots that will not only keep my feet warm and dry but are smart enough to see me through into the evening as well. Whether it’s an evening in a country pub, or a media event in London, I know I will have happy feet this Autumn comfortably clad in my chelsea boots!
