Autumn Baby Shoot

This Autumn baby shoot remains one of my favourites. When Mum Lisa approached me she told me her baby Alfie was happiest outside, and he loved looking at the trees and the Autumn leaves. Was it possible to shoot a baby outside? I said of course! So we watched the weather forecast closely, wrapped up warm and got out there bright and early one perfect Autumn morning.

I absolutely love shooting out of doors, I find people are often more at ease. Alfie was three months old, and Lisa assured me he didn’t feel the cold easily and she had just the right clothes for the job! We met at 8.30am on a bright and blustery November morning in the park. Alfie was as happy as clam having cuddles with his Mum and Dad, looking at the trees and watching the world go by. He did a fair bit of staring at the funny lady with the camera too!!

Here are a few faves of this gorgeous happy family, who pretty much make parenting look like a walk in the park..

What kind of methods do you use to keep young kids and babies happy through the shoot?

Making sure they are warm enough and not hungry or thirsty helps, plus I usually have a few sweeties tucked away in my bag! I work with how the child is feeling on the day though, and if all they want is cuddles with their parents then that is absolutely fine, or if they want to run around and play then that is great too! x

Thanks so much Michelle! We watched the forecast closely for a week and hit lucky on this morning! Yes he’s the sweetest little boy isn’t he? I used my 70-200mm for this shoot, I love the compression it gives on the backgrounds. xxx
