The Art of Living Well, with The White Company

This post is in collaboration with The White Company

We are nearly there, it’s the home stretch. It’s almost time when we can officially tell winter to do one, and make life all about blossom and bare legs again. The days are undeniably longer, the birds seem to be singing a little louder, and the hedgerows and trees hold the promise that new growth is very close indeed.

I find myself limping on through these last weeks of winter. After the excitement and excess of the Christmas period, all I really want to do is stay at home and be cosy.  Despite the whiff of spring in the air, the sunshine is deceptive and the cold air nips about the ankles if you venture out underdressed. To flop in a chair by the window after a chilly school run is really the best way to appreciate those lighter evenings! At least until it warms up a bit. Throw in a coffee and a blanket and this is definitely where you’ll find me for the next few months.

The Spring range from The White Company encapsulates simple living yet luxurious living. The colour palette is as always sophisticated and muted, and each piece is crafted with beautiful materials and design, to add something special to your home and give you a real sense of wellbeing every day.

Amongst my favourite pieces are the Tibetan sheepskin stool, which is the perfect statement piece for our living room. It complements the other natural materials and tones, and adds a sense of fun as well as the absolute delight of being able to put your feet up when you sit down.

I love to keep the colour palette of the house fairly understated, but to add in interesting textures and subtle patterns. This cushion is a great addition, tactile and soft, and in the prettiest silver grey it adds a lovely fresh feel, yet is still super cosy with the chunky knit pattern.

Of course we can fake it until we really make it to spring by introducing fresh flowers and scents to our homes. The White Company has introduced a new collection of scents to their ever popular range, including this one – aptly named Spring. It is light and sweet, with delicious notes of honeysuckle and jasmine that really make you feel like you’ve flung the doors and windows open on a mild spring day.

This beautiful pair of smoked glass vases (available individually in large and small) are ideal for a few pussy willow branches, some early catkins or delicate magnolia branch. The perfect injection of understated spring glamour to your home!

I am definitely going to try and remember each year as we enter the bleakest part of winter, that it’s ok to take a little time each day to myself. To make the most of a sunny spot by a window and to enjoy the small things. Whilst dreaming of blossom and bare legs, just around the corner of course.
