Plum and Ashby Giveaway

This month Plum and Ashby have very kindly sponsored #momentsofmine with a stunning giveaway from their collection of gorgeous homewares. Plum and Ashby are based in the beautiful little market town of Olney, only half an hours drive from where I live (lucky me!). I had a lovely morning out along with my little sidekick Max, to meet up with Plum and Ashby founder Vicky, and of course her own sidekick Bertie (who I can confirm was a great match for Max!). Vicky has put together the most divine collection of goods, and their showroom in Olney is packed full of country charm and character. Read on to find out how you can win this beautiful prize consisting of a canvas tote bag with leather handles, two hand thrown ceramic mugs, a woven wash bag and a handmade scented candle, and for a chat with Vicky who told me more about Plum and Ashby!

Firstly, Vicky is going to introduce us to Plum and Ashby! *the following images are all Plum and Ashby’s own*

Hi Vicky, firstly thank you so much for sponsoring #momentsofmine this month and for the incredibly generous gift! Could you tell us a little more about yourself and how came about to start your company Plum & Ashby?

After around 10 years of living in the hustle and bustle of London, I longed to live in the countryside, get a dog and start a new adventure. So, about five years ago, the perfect opportunity arose! I brought two old cottages in a pretty little village in rural Bedfordshire. They are around 200 years old and needed a full renovation, which was just the kind of project I wanted to get involved in. In turn, I was searching for interiors to compliment the age of the property but found everything a little too ‘country cottage’ or chinzy and dated for me. So this sparked the idea of Plum & Ashby. I left my full time job and set about bringing my idea to life!

Your products are just beautiful, I would quite like my entire house to look just like your showroom! What inspires your designs and product ranges?

I can spend countless hours wandering around antique shops and fairs, I’m always so intrigued about the history and I often find bits that make me nostalgic about my own childhood memories. So alongside the vintage inspiration, it’s a contemporary take on the traditional General Store with an elegant country look but in a timeless style.

And of course, Bertie! He likes to come everywhere with me, and so just started popping up in our photography and turning up at meetings! He is now quite used to all the attention and can’t bear to be left out of any Plum & Ashby project!

You are rightly so very proud of the fact that so many of your products are made in the UK. How do you go about finding and sourcing the fabulous makers you are working with?

I love Pinterest, so usually that is the first port of call and then of course, Instagram! It’s such a treat to explore a huge amount of imagery and inspiration in a short space of time, although an hour has usually gone by before I’ve noticed! We like to try and keep production as local as possible, so always try research nearby makers, reach out to them and go from there!

What does the future hold for you and Plum and Ashby?

We are really loving expanding our audience through Instagram and finding even more about it all through the lovely community! We’re in the process of getting our new collections together, we’ve had some great feedback from our customers which is getting us excited for new product ranges and categories; so watch this space! We are also currently expanding into some new markets around the world, which is really exciting!

*I have come up with a special hashtag for the purposes of the giveaway, so I can be sure people have intentionally entered and are following myself and Plum and Ashby, and are not just using #momentsofmine as a generic hashtag.
