Bringing in Spring, with Anthropologie

Finally, Spring is here and once again I’m woken by the birds singing and the sunshine peeping through the curtains. It’s time to open the doors and windows (even if it causes a slight shiver) and let the scent of the lilac drift in, and the fresh, cool air circulate through the house.

Spring really gets to the core of me. I love the extra light, and the riot of colour around the neighbourhood as the cherry trees and wisteria spring into life. I love afternoons spent in the park after school, and sneaking the odd hour in the garden with my face to the sunshine. I want to bottle it, and stock pile these moments for a slow release of sweet scented memories to see me through the winter.

I like to truly embrace the Spring feeling right through my wardrobe, my home, and what I eat too. Out with the Winter boots (slight shiver again), and in with bare ankles. Out with the warming stews, in with the seasonal veg and herbs.

I also love the fold away the heavy throws and sheepskins until the colder days come again, and add more flowers, foliage, fresh colours and patterns to my home decor.

Anthropology Spring homewares

Makara Cushion | These two pots are currently out of stock, but find similar here

I’ve teamed up with one of my absolute favourites, Anthropologie to select some pieces from their new season of homewares. Anthropologie do the most beautiful textiles. I could happily have chosen any of their cushions, or for that matter rugs, throws or table linen. This gorgeous big cushion is so soft and squishy, perfect for cuddling into on the sofa or using as a floor cushion and reading books with the kids. It brings all the right Spring elements to the room with the soft pastels, fresh pattern and gold details. You can see the full range here for lots more delightful and colourful ideas.

Potted plants are a great way to bring in the season. They are just as pretty as cut flowers, and hopefully last a little longer. The planters I have chosen are perfect to add this seasons trends of metallics and concrete to the room, and work so well with the fresh green. The metallic details really lift the soft grey tones in the room. You can see the full range here.

These beautiful plates bring blue sky even on a grey day. I’m a complete sucker for ceramics, and these glazes and slightly wibbly edges are so tactile and vibrant.  I’m already feeling inspired to dig out the cook books and prepare fresh meals for friends and family, with the back doors to the garden wide open and the wine on ice. The dinner plates are complemented really well by the blue dessert plates, and I love this splash of colour on the table.

The cotton napkins have a lovely boho vibe, and provide subtle and fresh colour to the meal table and complement the striking blue colour of the plates. I love the whole Anthropologie range of table wares, their melamine plates are wonderful. Take a peek here.

You can’t go wrong with marble, and this cheese board is one of my favourite pieces which will never go out of fashion. The bronze inlays add something really special, and like all the items I’ve chosen are perfect for both special occasions and will really elevate an every day dinner too. Bring on the simple Summer dinners of good bread, cheese and salads.

Finally I chose this wonderful floral stag bust. For a bit of whimsey and fun, its the perfect statement piece to complete the Spring vibe in my home. I’m so looking forward to the longer, brighter, hopefully warmer and more floral days of Spring and Summer, and I love how this is reflected in my home with a few key pieces. So now there’s only one thing left to ask, who’s coming for dinner?

Thank you so much! I can’t remember actually, we’ve had them for years! Not from a high street shop, try googling “vintage enamel pendants” and I’m sure you’ll find similar! x
